These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Maplocal website, apps, and related services (the "Services") provided by COMPANY_NAME ("Maplocal", "we", "us"). By accessing or using the Services, you agree to these Terms.

1) Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction) to use the Services. By using the Services, you represent that you meet this requirement.

2) Accounts

• You are responsible for your account and for keeping your login credentials secure.
• You agree to provide accurate information and keep it reasonably up to date.
• We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or pose risk to the community or the Services.

3) Community content and conduct

Maplocal may allow you to post content, submit edits, and interact with others ("User Content"). You are responsible for your User Content and your conduct.

Prohibited content and behavior

• Illegal content or conduct.
• Harassment, threats, or targeted abuse.
• Hate speech or content that promotes violence.
• Doxxing or sharing others' personal information without consent.
• Impersonation or deceptive behavior.
• Spam, scams, or fraudulent schemes.
• Attempts to bypass security, scrape private data, or disrupt the Services.

Safety and location sensitivity

Because Maplocal is local by nature, you agree to avoid posting content that could reasonably endanger others (e.g., identifying private residences with sensitive allegations, posting real-time whereabouts without consent). We may remove content or restrict accounts to protect user safety.

4) Your rights and our license to your content

You retain ownership of your User Content. To operate the Services, you grant Maplocal a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, modify (for formatting/display), publish, and distribute your User Content as necessary to provide and improve the Services.

This license ends when you delete your User Content or your account, except to the extent we need to retain copies for legal, security, or operational reasons (e.g., abuse investigations, backups, audit trails).

5) Intellectual property

The Services, including our software, design, logos, and trademarks, are owned by Maplocal or its licensors and are protected by applicable laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Services except as permitted by these Terms.

6) Third-party services

The Services may integrate with third-party tools (e.g., payment processors, map tiles, hosting). Your use of those third-party services is governed by their terms and policies.

7) Payments, add-ons, and refunds (if applicable)

Some features may require payment (e.g., premium tooling, business add-ons, contributor tools). Prices and features may change, and we'll make reasonable efforts to communicate material changes.

• Taxes may apply depending on your location.
• Refunds, if any, are handled according to the purchase flow shown at checkout or required by law.

8) Moderation and enforcement

We may (but are not required to) review, remove, or restrict content and accounts to enforce these Terms, comply with law, or protect the community. We also may investigate suspected violations.

9) Disclaimers

The Services are provided "as is" and "as available." Maplocal does not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or perfectly accurate. Map data and community reports can be wrong or outdated. Use your judgment and verify critical information.

10) Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Maplocal will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of the Services.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Maplocal's total liability for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid to Maplocal in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim (or $100 if you paid nothing).

11) Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Maplocal and its affiliates, officers, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the Services or violation of these Terms.

12) Termination

You may stop using the Services at any time. We may suspend or terminate access to the Services at any time if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or if needed to protect the Services or community.

13) Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of GOVERNING_LAW, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

14) Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll take reasonable steps to notify you. Continued use of the Services after changes become effective means you accept the updated Terms.
